Bienvenue!
Thank you for visiting.
As a seeker of refinement, I believe that a well-crafted wine holds more than just flavor—it carries time, memory, and a quiet lesson in savoring life’s fleeting moments. Like wine, life deepens when approached with intention, curiosity, and an appreciation for the finer details.
I created The Thoughtful Vintage as a space for me to continue to explore this insight, where my love for poetry, art, philosophy, and literature converge on my love for wine. True nobility is not what is inherited by birth, but found in a life cultivated with great intention in every experience.
Inspired by the aromas and flavors that arises from the glass - as well as Montaigne’s reflections on selfhood; the poetry of terroir - as well as the lines of Shakespeare, Keats, & Wordsworth; and the elegance of noticing how the light reflects on the colors of the wine - as well as the French art de vivre, I write in the form and spirit of “pensées” - thoughts, or musings - not just about wine, but about the introspection it invites, and the moments that give life depth.
Montaigne once wrote,
« La plus grande chose du monde, c'est de savoir être à soi »
“The greatest thing in the world is to know how to belong to oneself.”
In an age of haste, I find that true refinement lies in slowing down—whether in savoring a glass of wine, lingering in a passage of poetry, being captivated by a timeless work of art, or conversing with the traditions and wisdom of the past through an old book - and so developing a life of quiet elegance paired with the unrelentless pursuit of beauty.
To savor a great vintage is to engage in something lasting— a moment of reflection, an act of presence. Here, I invite you to slow down, pour a glass, and explore life’s depths—one thoughtful sip at a time.
Santé!
